Fall Flavor Trends for 2024

Fall Flavor Trends for 2024

Datassential’s Fall Trends Webinar in July revealed a long list of pies and related flavors: pecan pie, streusel, caramel-apple pie, chestnut, and pumpkin pie (of course!). The one outlier, Cinnamon Roll, also offers warm autumn spices and indulgent comfort.

And that’s our takeaway: while there are no surprises here in terms of flavors, customers are really leaning into indulgence and comfort this fall season. Add a hint of nostalgia, and you’ve got a blueprint for this year’s fall favorites.

2024 Autumn Flavors

Streusel

Let’s start with a basic component that’s on everyone’s list: streusel. You might be tempted to relegate this stalwart standard to topping muffins and coffee cakes, but it’s at home in snacking bars and even ice cream pints. A crunchy texture is always welcome, and when paired with creamy ganache, gooey caramel, soft sponges, and snappy chocolate, it gives any application an indulgent boost.

Caramel & Apple

You can't go wrong with the combination of rich, gooey caramel and crisp, tart apple. Autumn is the perfect time to create a seasonal caramel-apple special, be it a tart, bonbon, or even a beverage. Did you know that 41% of North Americans are likely to make an impulse purchase when a food or beverage is a "limited edition?" (Innova, January 2024)

An Adaptable Classic:

Pecan Pie

Pecan pie is an American classic that would be a hit anywhere in the world as-is, but highlighting the flavors of your region is a great way to work with local suppliers and meet your sustainability goals.
